At CASA of Tarrant County, we’re proud to not only support children and families, but also to help shape the next generation through our internship program. Over the years, our interns have gone on to do incredible things—many continuing to serve their communities in meaningful ways. In this series, Where Are They Now?, we’re catching up with former CASA interns to see where their journeys have taken them and how their time with CASA has impacted their careers and lives.

“I interned at CASA from August 2021 to August 2022. I graduated in December 2022 from Texas Christian University with a B.S. in Political Science. One of my goals during college was to connect more deeply with the city where I attended school, and I saw CASA as a perfect opportunity to get involved in the community while supporting a meaningful cause. As a pre-law student, I was passionate about advocacy and making a difference in the lives of children in the foster care system. While my role focused on organizational development, event planning, and community engagement, it provided invaluable experience in understanding how nonprofit organizations can support vulnerable populations.
Through this internship, I developed key leadership and outreach skills, gained a deeper insight into CASA's mission, and witnessed how advocacy extends beyond the courtroom. This experience further solidified my commitment to pursuing a legal career dedicated to serving others, particularly through nonprofit work and pro bono legal services.
Currently, I am a second-year law student at UNT Dallas College of Law. I have thrived in law school by excelling in challenging coursework, being selected as a teaching fellow for legal writing, joining the Accessible Law Review, and participating in the moot court advocacy team. My experience at CASA strengthened my belief that the law is a powerful tool for creating change, and I am eager to use my legal education to make a lasting impact.”

“I was a CASA intern from January to August of 2023! This was during my last semester at Texas Christian University (TCU), and the summer following my graduation. I graduated from TCU in May of 2023 with a B.S. in Communication Studies and minors in both Political Science and Women & Gender Studies. I then began my graduate program in Denver, Colorado shortly thereafter. I graduated from the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business, in June of 2024 with an M.S. in Business Management. I wanted to intern at CASA because I have always been passionate about advocating for those who may not have a voice to advocate for themselves. This is central to CASA’s mission of providing children with a dedicated advocate in the courtroom and beyond. CASA's impact on the lives of Tarrant County children is exceptional, and I was really drawn to the idea of being a small part of this transformative work. Additionally, during my time at TCU I had the privilege of being a member of Kappa Alpha Theta ("Theta"). As a Theta, I was fortunate to have exposure to CASA's mission, vision, work, and impact through Theta's philanthropic partnership with the organization. I felt that interning at CASA would be an incredible opportunity to contribute to this vital cause while developing my own skills as an advocate and communicator. One of the most valuable things I got out of my internship was insight into nonprofit development and professional communications. One of my favorite tasks as a CASA intern was running the social media analytics and presenting my data analysis with growth suggestions at monthly marketing meetings to the Development and Operations team. The combination of being able to contribute to truly mission-driven work and develop valuable professional skills made my time as a CASA intern invaluable.
Now, I live and work in Denver, Colorado, where I recently graduated with my M.S. in Business Management from the University of Denver. I now work as the Communication Coordinator at Viega LLC North American Headquarters. I am part of the Employee Experience team, where I specialize in internal communications and work to strengthen connections among our employees while aligning them with the company’s mission, vision, and values.”

“I interned in college my sophomore and junior year. I graduated in 2023 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. My sorority’s philanthropy was CASA but I’ve always had a heart for working with kids. I loved being able to serve both my sorority and the Tarrant County community with the work that I was doing. I learned so many life and work place skills, along with the feeling of working for a greater cause.
Seeing all the pieces come together on the day of an event that we worked so hard to plan was my favorite part! I truly feel like this internship was a key point in my foundation for my current career. I currently live in Dallas, and I teach 2nd grade in the greater DFW area. I also am a part time group fitness coach at a Dallas gym!”

“I interned at CASA from August 2022 to 2023. I graduated with a degree in Marketing and Management from TCU's Neeley School of Business. During my time at TCU, I developed a deep respect and admiration for the social work profession, which led me to pursue an internship at CASA. The development internship appealed to me because it combined my passion for helping children and youth in foster care with the creative and tactical skills I had developed in the classroom.
My internship at CASA provided me with invaluable insights and experiences. It deepened my understanding of the foster care system and strengthened my appreciation for the impactful work that CASA does. Additionally, I enhanced my organizational and donor relation skills, which have been crucial in my current role. Now, I work at CASA-NYC as a Development Associate, where I support all aspects of fundraising. I’m incredibly grateful to the CASA of Tarrant County team for helping set me up for success in my new position!”

“I was an Intern at CASA of Tarrant County from August 2023 to May 2024. I am graduating this May 2025 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Texas Christian University and will be pursuing my Master’s in Counseling at TCU in the Fall. I have always had a passion for children and families who have experienced hardship and challenges. I find that CASA’s mission and efforts greatly align with the way that I care for people in my personal and professional life. Having the privilege of being a CASA intern allowed me to understand different aspects of the Foster Care
System and has prepared me for future professional endeavours. This internship created relationships and crafted skills that firmly created who I am today in and out of the workforce. I am currently the Special Events Coordinator at CASA of Tarrant County and have greatly enjoyed strengthening my knowledge and relationships within CASA.”
